Mentor in Cambodia

MENTOR IN CAMBODIA

Sunrise Cambodia has an exciting in-country mentoring program that focuses on skills-based learning. We are looking for volunteers that can enhance the skills of our Khmer staff and actively contribute to their professional development. We need teachers who can work with the local Khmer teachers to develop learning and sports programs; health professionals who can up-skill our healthcare staff; engineers who can work with our maintenance crew; farmers and agriculturalists who can support our food development programs; and IT experts who can improve the current systems in use and train staff in world-class IT. We also need native English speakers or qualified ESL teachers who can assist our teachers in the classroom and work directly with students to improve their English language skills.

This is an opportunity to not only make an impact on the development of staff at Sunrise Cambodia, but will feed back into their own work and ultimately benefits the at-risk kids, struggling families and poor communities who receive our support in the long term. Mentors leave them with the tools to better their own lives and those of their community.

Requirements

  • Mentors must be over the age of 18 and have specialist skill sets that will enhance the capabilities of our staff and fundraise
  • A minimum of $1,000 prior to the start of their mentoring program
  • A Working With Children Check and a valid Police Check is compulsory prior to final acceptance into the program
  • All mentors must read, understand and sign Sunrise Cambodia’s Volunteer Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policy
  • Medical/travel insurance is compulsory for all approved mentors and we also recommend completing first aid training equivalent to the Australian standardised Provide First Aid HLTAID003 certificate (previously known as Senior First Aid and Apply First Aid) prior to departure

Please see the full terms and conditions here.

If you have specialist skills you think will benefit the Khmer people and are able to mentor long-term in Cambodia, please express your interest in the program using form below.
