New Beginnings for Sunrise New Hope

New Beginnings for Sunrise New Hope

After 10 years as an outstanding grassroots NGO, New Hope Cambodia has become a Sunrise project. Sunrise Cambodia and New Hope have shared the same vision of improving the lives of the local people for many years. There is much work to do here with more than 600 children needing support to continue school. You can sponsor a child at Sunrise New Hope and make an enormous difference in their lives.

Hope is something not afforded to the many thousands of poor kids and families in Cambodia but it’s something Sunrise New Hope is achieving with the support of generous donors. As the newest project to Sunrise Cambodia, Sunrise New Hope is running business as usual. It’s focus is on community development, giving education, health care and community outreach programs that benefit villages near Siem Reap.

Sunrise New Hope has been providing free education to Cambodia’s kids since 2007 and now supports over 800 kids attending school. Public school is not without cost in Cambodia and when families cannot buy enough food or clothing, education becomes a distant dream. Education is the best chance kids have of having gainful employment when they are older, which in turn will allow them to support their families, educate their own children and break the cycle of poverty.

Development drives Sunrise New Hope

The medical centre at Sunrise New Hope has grown from a one-room clinic to 12 rooms with more than 1,000 consultations a month, free of charge to community members. Staff also accompany patients to major hospitals for surgeries, providing transport, accommodation and support, and engage in health promotion.

Sunrise New Hope’s community outreach program handles family assessments to give families the support they need most. That might be providing bicycles, emergency food relief, repairs for housing or the installation of water pumps. Sunrise New Hope also works with local authorities to educate families on human and drug trafficking as well as gambling and alcohol issues.

We need your help to sustain these programs. Please give to Sunrise New Hope. A monthly donation of $50 keeps one child in school and off the street.
